Fragments - New Work

I've been busy playing around in the studio with some small paintiings 30 x 30 cm - they are painted in oil on linen board.  I wanted to make a small series in a monochrome palette - with a bit of a film noir feel.  There will be 12 of these in total.

Getting ready for "The Invisible"

It is getting close to my exhibition opening at fortyfivedownstairs - it's entitled "The Invisible" and this image is the one we've decided to use on the invitations - it is entitled "The Invisible" and it's an unusual size 75 x 240 cm.

Making the Invisible Visible

We are running a Pozible campaign to self publish a book for my upcoming exhibition.  The book has two components, firstly a perfect bound book which is available as one of the rewards on the campaign and a hand bound limited edition collector item book which is also available as part of the campaign - only 17 left at this stage.  The book explores Art and Trauma - there will be images from the show, from my visit to Beelitz, as well as two essays, one from the talented artist and writer, Laura Skerlj and the other from Professor Mark Creamer, one of Australia's leading psychologists dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.  Also, Abe Ape has written a special poem for the exhibition which will be in the book as well as 4 others.

The hand bound book will have a unique small painting on the cover making it very special.

Here is the link if you would like to contribute and please feel free to forward it to others.

New Studio

I've just moved into a new studio and realise how important the space you create in is.  My last studio was quite dark and had a terrible dust problem so I am enjoying the light, white walls and almost dust free environment.  I have had my head down making work for "The Invisible" - almost there - the painting below is not a very good photo - taken my me!  It's a painting I started in Berlin last year - only small 30 x 40 cm.

Start of new work

As I settle back into my studio after all my travels, these are some of the paintings I started in Berlin and New York - they are slowly starting to take shape.

Inspiration from Berlin

Visiting Beelitz about an hour out of Berlin has inspired my new body of work.  The crumbling buildings made me wonder what ghosts wander between these walls.  Trees are now growing out of the roof of the building and the walls are covered in graffiti.
